Coastal commercial crab season set to close at 5 p.m. Thursday
OLYMPIA--The coastal commercial Dungeness crab fishing season will close at
5 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 3), the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced today.
Department biologists said the closure is necessary to protect the crabs, whose
shells have become soft because they are molting.
Commercial crab fishers have five days after Thursday's closure to bring in their
gear.
