SEATTLE -- The Tolt River, from the mouth to the U.S. Geological Survey's trolley cable near the confluence of its north and south forks, will close to all game fishing at 12:01 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 21) through 11:59 p.m. Nov. 30, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced today.

The river is being closed on an emergency basis to protect wild summer steelhead. Recent surveys indicate the number of adult steelhead in the river is significantly below normal.
