OLYMPIA -- The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will be planting thousands of six to 10-inch rainbow trout in Pierce, Thurston and Mason counties in September and October for fall fishing.

Some Pierce and Thurston county lakes also will receive some broodstock rainbows weighing two to four pounds.

Here's a lake-by-lake breakdown of the number of trouted to be planted:

Pierce County: American (10,000); Clear (5,000); Harts (4,000); Kapowsin (6,000); Ohop (6,000); Rapjohn (2,000); Spanaway (6,000); Louise (500) and Tanwax (4,000). Spanaway, American and Clear lakes each also received 300 broodstock.

Thurston County: Black (15,000); Deep (3,000); Hicks (4,000); McIntosh (3,000); Offutt (8,000); St. Clair (3,000); Summit (12,000); Pattison (6,000) and Ward (3,000). Black and St. Clair lakes each also will receive 300 broodstock rainbows.

Mason County: Benson (1,000); Deer (500); Hatchery (150); Isabella (3,100); Island (2,600); Nahwatzel (6,000); Panhandle (150); Phillips (3,000); Spencer (6,000); Trails End (700).

Anglers should note Pattison, Benson, Deer, Panhandle, Hatchery, Deep, Hicks, McIntosh, Summit, Ward and Rapjohn lakes close to fishing on Oct. 31.
