Economics and Demographics of Wildlife Viewing and Viewers in Washington
In 2001, 2.5 million U.S. residents 16+ years old participated in wildlife viewing activities in Washington.  Of these, an estimated 43 percent (1.1 million) traveled one mile or more to view wildlife, spending an average of $265 annually per person on trip-related expenses. An estimated 286,000 wildlife viewers were from out-of-state.
