Why can’t I see the latitude/longitude coordinates on the status bar?

By default, Internet Explorer 7 and FireFox do not allow applications to write to the status bar. To enable the latitude/longitude coordinates:

FireFox

• Open FireFox
• Click “Tools” on the menu
• Click on “Options…” sub-menu
• Check the “Enable Javascript” checkbox
• Click on “Advanced…” button
• Check the “Change status bar text” checkbox
• Click the “OK” buttons on the way back out of the menus

Internet Explorer 7

• Open Internet Explorer 7
• Click "Tools"
• Click "Internet Options"
• Click "Security" tab
• Click "Internet" or "Restricted Sites"
• Click "Custom level" button
• Scroll down to "Allow status bar updates via script"
• Select "Enable"
• Click "OK" until all windows are closed and you have returned to Internet Explorer
