What
do the map symbols mean?
This
application displays map features using different cartographic
symbols.
Either different colored symbols or different symbol
types are used to represent different values for a particular
feature attribute. For example, the color of symbols used
to display ‘water access’ sites, represent the
type of access: motorized access (red) or non-motorized access
(blue). An example of the use of different symbol types to
represent different feature attributes is demonstrated in
the “transportation or road” map layers. Different
line patterns and colors are used to represent different
transportation types (paved, unpaved, trails, railroad, etc.).
You can
see a legend for the currently displayed map layers by
clicking
on the ‘Legend’ button on the lower
right corner of the ‘mapping tools’ toolbar.
 You
can go back to view map layers by clicking on the ‘Layers’ button
on the lower right corner of the ‘mapping tools’ toolbar.
