Commission to hold a hatchery workshop, committee meetings in June

OLYMPIA – The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will hold a virtual Hatchery Workshop on June 9 and virtual Fish and Wildlife committee meetings on June 16.

On June 9 at 8 a.m., the Commission’s Hatchery Workshop provides an opportunity for a detailed discussion of hatchery production risks and benefits, and how they relate to efforts to increase prey for Southern Resident Killer Whales. The discussion also includes two hatchery policy alternatives (C-3624 and draft Co-Manager Hatchery Policy).

On June 16 at 9 a.m., the Commission’s Fish Committee will meet to the provide the Co-Manager Hatchery Policy update on public comments received concerning the State Environmental Policy Act determination. The agenda also includes the Commission Forage Fish Policy (C-3012), an update on pinniped predation, and future agenda item planning.

The Commission’s Wildlife Committee will meet on June 16 at 11 a.m. to discuss the ongoing Game Management Plan. The committee will also discuss current events and agenda setting.
