PUGET SOUND COMMERCIAL SALMON FISHERIES REGULATION HOTLINE 2022-13 Week 39 09/16/2022 – 2:00PM For the week beginning Sunday September 18 all areas are closed except as follows: Area 6-D (Dungeness Bay) will be open to: Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size : Open 7 AM to 7PM daily Wednesday September 21 through Friday September 23. All Chinook and chum must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh. Area 7 (San Juan Islands) will be open to: Reef Nets: 5 AM to 9 PM Daily Sunday, September 18 to Saturday, September 24. Must release all chum, sockeye, and unmarked Chinook. Immediate possession of a WDFW Logbook is required to retain Chinook. Areas 7-B (Bellingham Bay): Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size: Open continuously 7 AM Monday September 19 through midnight Sunday, October 23. Retention of Sockeye is prohibited. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: Open continuously 7 AM Monday September 19 through 6 pm Sunday, October 23. Brailing is required. Retention of Sockeye is prohibited. Area 9-A (Port Gamble Bay) will be open to: Skiff gillnets with nets not to exceed 600 feet in length and 60 meshes in depth using 5-inch minimum mesh, is open continuously through 7 PM Saturday, October 29. All Chinook and chum must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh. Area 12-A (Quilcene Bay) will be open to: Beach seines: 7 AM to 7 PM daily Monday September 12 to Friday September 16. Beach seines may only retain coho and nets may not to exceed 990 feet in length and 200 meshes in depth using minimum 3-inch and maximum 4-inch mesh.
