PUGET SOUND COMMERCIAL SALMON FISHERIES REGULATION HOTLINE 2022-17 Week 42 10/08/2022 – 12:00PM For the week beginning Sunday October 9 all areas are closed except as follows: Area 6-D (Dungeness Bay) will be open to: Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size: 7 AM to 7 PM daily Monday October 10 through Friday October 14. All Chinook and chum must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh. Area 7 (San Juan Islands) and 7-A (Point Roberts) will be open to: Reef Nets: 5 AM to 9 PM Daily Sunday, October 9 to Saturday, October 15. Must release all sockeye, unmarked Chinook, and unmarked Coho. Immediate possession of a WDFW Logbook is required to retain Chinook. Gillnets using 6 1/4-inch minimum mesh size: 7 AM to Midnight daily: Tuesday October 11, Wednesday October 12, Friday October 14 and Saturday October 15. Recovery boxes are required and soak times are limited to 45 minutes from first mesh in to last mesh out. Gillnets must release all Chinook, Sockeye and coho. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: 7 AM to 6 PM daily: Tuesday October 11, Wednesday October 12, Friday October 14 and Saturday October 15. Brailing of catch and recovery boxes are required. Purse seines must release all Chinook, Sockeye, and coho. Areas 7-B (Bellingham Bay): Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size: Open continuously through midnight Sunday, October 23. Retention of Sockeye is prohibited. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: Open continuously through 6 pm Sunday, October 23. Brailing is required. Retention of Sockeye is prohibited. Area 9-A (Port Gamble Bay) will be open to: Skiff gillnets with nets not to exceed 600 feet in length and 60 meshes in depth using 5-inch minimum mesh, is open continuously through 7 PM Saturday, October 29. All Chinook and chum must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh. Areas 12 and 12-B (Hood Canal): Gillnets using 6 1/4-inch minimum mesh size: Open 7 AM to 7 PM Thursday, October 13. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: Open 7 AM to 6 PM Tuesday, October 11. Must release all Chinook and Coho.
