PUGET SOUND COMMERCIAL SALMON FISHERIES REGULATION HOTLINE 2024-16, Week 41, 10/8/2024 5:15 PM For the remainder of the week beginning Sunday, October 6, all areas are closed except as follows: Area 6D (Dungeness Bay) will be open to: Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size : Open 7 AM to 7PM Daily: Monday, October 7, through Friday, October 11. All Chinook and chum must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh. Area 7 (San Juan Islands) and 7 A (Point Roberts) will be open to: Reef Nets: 5 AM to 9 PM Daily: Sunday, October 6, through Saturday, October 12. Reef Nets must release all sockeye, and Chinook. Gillnet using 6 ΒΌ-inch minimum mesh size: 7 AM to midnight Friday, October 11 and 7 AM to midnight Saturady, October 12. Recovery boxes are required and soak times are limited to 45 minutes from first mesh in to last mesh out. Gillnets must release all Chinook,coho, and sockeye. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: 7 AM to 6 PM Friday October 11, and 7 AM to 6 PM Saturday, October 12. Brailing and recovery boxes are required. Purse seines must release all Chinook, coho, and sockeye. Areas 7 B (Bellingham Bay) will be open to: Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size: Open continuously through midnight Sunday, November 2. Retention of sockeye is prohibited. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: Open continuously through 6 PM Sunday, November 2. Brailing is required, and purse seines must release all sockeye. Area 8D (Tulalip Bay) will be open west of a line from Mission Point to Hermosa Point to: Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size: Open 6 PM Sunday, October 6 to 8 AM Monday, October 7. 6 PM Monday, October 7 to 8 AM Thursday, October 10. 6 PM Thursday, October 10 to 8 AM Friday, October 11. All sockeye must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh Area 9 A (Port Gamble Bay) will be open to: Skiff gill nets with nets not to exceed 600 feet in length and 60 meshes in depth using 5-inch minimum mesh, is open continuously through 7 PM Saturday, November 2. All Chinook and chum must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh. Area 9 (Apple Cove Point): WDFW/NWIFC ACP Test Fishery will take place Wednesday, October 9.
