PUGET SOUND COMMERCIAL SALMON FISHERIES REGULATION HOTLINE 2024-22, Week 43, 10/19/2024 4:00 PM For the week beginning Sunday, October 20, all areas are closed except as follows: Area 6 D: Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size : Monday, October 21, through Friday, October 25. All Chinook must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh. Areas 7 B: Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size: Open continuously through midnight Sunday, November 2. Retention of sockeye is prohibited. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: Open continuously through 6 PM Sunday, November 2. Brailing is required, and purse seines must release all sockeye. Area 8 D: Gillnets using 5-inch minimum mesh size: Open 6 PM Sunday, October 20 to 8 AM Monday, October 21. 6 PM Monday, October 21 to 8 AM Thursday, October 24. 6 PM Thursday, October 24 to 8 AM Friday, October 25. All sockeye must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh. Area 9 A: Skiff gill nets with nets not to exceed 600 feet in length and 60 meshes in depth using 5-inch minimum mesh, is open continuously through 7 PM Saturday, November 2. All Chinook and chum must be released by cutting the ensnaring mesh. Area 10 and Area 11: Gillnets using 6 1/4-inch minimum mesh size: 5PM Sunday October 20 to 9 AM Monday October 21. 5 PM Wednesday, October 23, to 9 AM Thursday, October 24. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: Open 7 AM to 6PM, Tuesday, October 22. Purse Seines Must release all Chinook and Coho. Areas 12 and 12 B: Gillnets using 6 1/4-inch minimum mesh size: Open 7 AM to 8 PM Sunday, October 20. 7 AM to 8 PM Wednesday, October 23. Purse seines with a 5 inch strip: Open 7 AM to 6 PM Tuesday, October 22. Purse Seines Must release all Chinook and Coho. Area 9 (Apple Cove Point): WDFW/NWIFC ACP Test Fishery and the WDFW Area 11 Research Fisheries will take place Thursday, October 24.
