"Love Bites" Virtual Workshop with the Whale Museum

Join the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) at the "Love Bites" Virtual Workshop hosted by the Whale Museum on Feb. 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This virtual workshop’s theme is Sharks in the Pacific Northwest (and the whales who love to eat them). 

At the workshop, WDFW Senior Biologist Lisa Hillier will provide an overview of Pacific Northwest sharks, including current bluntnose sixgill shark and dogfish research. Other presenters include: 

  • Dr. Alexandra Mcinturf, CICOES Postdoctoral Fellow, Oregon State University on basking sharks.
  • Jesus Erick Higuera Rivas, Marine Biologist, Conexiones Terramar AC on killer whale attacks on sharks (including whale sharks) off of California and Mexico.
  • Jessica Schulte and Ethan Personius, Graduate Students, Oregon State University on broadnose sevengill sharks and soupfin sharks.
  • Meghana Binraj, Founder and Scientist, Species and Spaces Foundation on ratfish.
  • Brianna Wright, Aquatic Biologist, Fisheries and Oceans Canada on the diet of offshore killer whales.

Registration fee is $25 - $35.

You must wear the sticker/tape at all times. WDFW will make an effort to edit or remove any photos and/or video of you in which the sticker/tape is present. Any photos and/or videos posted in error will be immediately edited or removed upon request.

Due to the nature of audio recording that is a necessary part of videography, WDFW cannot warrant that outside/ambient audio from other individuals won’t be captured and released as part of said videography. All parties attending such an event consent to WDFW using such outside/ambient audio recording as part of any videography process.
