Climate change is affecting Washington’s fish, wildlife, and ecosystems, and challenging WDFW’s ability to fulfill our mission. In response, we have developed a holistic response to climate change that falls into two related, but distinct categories.
-
Climate change
Building resilience to the ongoing and projected impacts of climate change through the development and application of climate science into WDFW projects, programs, and activities.
-
Emissions reduction
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions produced by Department operations. Ongoing initiatives to reduce emissions include electrifying fleet vehicles, reducing building energy use, and implementing a Commute Trip Reduction program.
