Alkali Lake

Alkali Lake is a very productive water capable of producing a quality mixed species fishery.  However, the lake has suffered several summer and/or winter fish kills over the past 6-10 years.  In 2013 the Region Two Warmwater Team conducted a one-night survey of Alkali Lake.  During this survey they found some large Bluegill and Largemouth Bass along the east shore.  Boat access is limited to small boats.  Due to poor launch conditions we do not recommend boaters attempt to launch at Alkali Lake.  In winter Alkali Lake is one of the first lakes to freeze in this chain and can provide a good wintertime fishery for Largemouth Bass, Bluegill and Yellow Perch.  Please be aware that deerflies can be a problem in the summer.  Angers should wear long sleeved shirts and bring insect repellent.

Two-pole fishing is allowed

Shoreline access: Good - There are several places to park along State Route 17 and fish from the shore. Additionally, there is shoreline fishing at the main public access site.
