SPOKANE—The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's (WDFW) new eastern Washington regional headquarters will open for business about a week later than expected, to allow final construction to be completed.
The new office, at 2315 N. Discovery Place in Spokane Valley, was to have opened July 25.
"We hope to receive our occupancy permit Aug. 1, and expect to be open for business the next day," said John Andrews, regional director. "We're anxious to get up and running, but there is still some work to be finished."
The project contractor is completing work on the building's entry area and exit signage. Construction must be finished before local officials can conduct final inspections and issue an occupancy permit. Employees have been allowed to move office equipment into the building in the interim.
Until the new headquarters is open, telephone calls for the eastern regional office can be directed to the WDFW main headquarters in Olympia, at (360) 902-2200.
The regional headquarters is scheduled to be formally dedicated in an Aug. 4 public ceremony.
The department's former regional headquarters building, at 8702 N. Division St. in Spokane, was closed for the move July 15.
