Applications for special bear hunts now available at WDFW offices

OLYMPIA—Application forms for special permits to hunt black bears this spring currently are available to the public at all WDFW regional offices as well as the headquarters office here, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced today.

The permits are for the season that opens April 15 and closes May 16. A random drawing will select the people to receive the special permits.

Anyone with a valid 1999 Washington big game license that includes black bears may apply. Applications must be at a regional office or at Olympia headquarters by Feb. 12. Resident adults must pay a $5 application fee. Resident youths under 16 pay $3 and non-residents pay $50.

The following numbers of permits will be issued for these Blue Mountain Game Management Units: Blue Creek (GMU 154) 10: Dayton (GMU 162) 10; Tucannon (GMU 166) 10; Wenaha (GMU 169) 15; Mountain View (GMU 172) 10; Lick Creek (GMU 175) 10 and Grande Ronde (GMU 186) 5.
