OLYMPIA - A boat ramp managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) at Black Lake in Thurston County will be closed to the public most of the day June 5 and 6 while agency personnel participate in a boater safety course.

The ramp will be closed from dawn until about 5 p.m. both days.

Closing the access site will help ensure public safety while department staff conduct exercises on the lake. Flares will be used during some of the exercises.

About 20 WDFW employees will take part in the Motorboat Operator Instructor Certification Course, which includes water-rescue scenarios and boat operations and maneuvers.
