News release Dec. 26, 1997
The classes are required for all first-time hunters born after Jan. 1, 1972. Classes are led by WDFW-trained volunteers.
Class schedules are available at WDFW offices and statewide wherever hunting licenses are sold. Internet users may visit the WDFW website at www.wdfw.wa.gov for class schedules. This year the class schedules will no longer appear in the WDFW "Hunting Seasons and Rules" pamphlet.
"It will be especially important in 1998 to attend one of our early classes," said Mik Mikitik, WDFW hunter education coordinator. "Our July, August and September classes typically fill up very quickly because they take place just before hunting season."
Since its beginnings in 1957, the hunter education program has trained more than 500,000 young hunters in outdoor safety, wildlife management and hunting responsibility.
