OLYMPIA - The deadlines for purchasing and submitting applications for special fall hunts have been extended after heavy Internet traffic led to service delays, according to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).

Hunters have until midnight July 1 to purchase and submit an application, as well as any necessary hunting licenses and transport tags needed for a special-hunt permit.

All special-hunt permit applications for deer, elk, mountain goat, moose, bighorn sheep, and turkey must be purchased and submitted via a toll-free telephone number (1-877-945-3492) or WDFW's licensing website at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov.

Application instructions and details on permit hunts are in the 2007 Big Game Hunting Rules pamphlet, available at WDFW offices, license vendors, and at http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/regulations.
