Elk hunting boundary extension provides additional hunting opportunity for senior and disabled hunters

OLYMPIA – An extension to the boundary of an elk hunting area in Lewis and Thurston counties will allow opportunity for senior and disabled hunters on more than 4,000 additional acres of land during upcoming modern firearm hunting seasons.

Elk Area 6069 has a late season damage hunt for elk, and is open for hunters 65 and older, from Jan. 1 to Jan. 10, 2004. The same area has a late season damage hunt for elk that is open to hunters with disabilities from Jan. 15 to Jan. 20, 2004.

The changes to the boundary description are as follows:

Elk Area No. 6069 Hanaford (Lewis and Thurston counties.): Beginning at intersection of Salzer Valley Road and Centralia-Alpha Road; east and north on Salzer Valley Road to west on Little Hanaford Road to north on Teitzel Road to west on Big Hanaford Road to north on Hwy 507 to east on Skookumchuck Road to first bridge over Skookumchuck River; East along Skookumchuck River to powerline crossing immediately upstream of confluence with Johnson Creek; Southwest along powerline to east and south on Big Hanaford Road to Weyerhaeuser Road E150 to Weyerhaeuser Road E247 to Weyerhaeuser Road E240 to south on North Fork Road to west on Alpha-Centralia Road to point of beginning.
