Bring the wildlife to you this summer by creating a wildlife sanctuary in your own backyard.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), will participate in the Backyard Bird & Plant Fair, Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4, rain or shine, at the Firwood Nursery, 8403 W. Burroughs Road in Deer Park.

WDFW will be on site to explain the Backyard Wildlife Sanctuary Program and to sell a $5 informational packet which includes program topics such as landscaping, supplemental feeding, and problem wildlife.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, will also feature guided tours of the landscape, identification of plant life, and gardening tips from Spokane County Extension and Master Gardener Program.

Members of the Spokane Audubon Society and local vendors of backyard bird and garden supplies will also be on site.
