OLYMPIA- The goose hunting season will be shortened by three days this fall in much of eastern Washington, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has announced.
The change will end the regular fall goose season on Oct. 25 instead of Oct. 28 in Goose Management Area 4. With the change, opening and closing dates for the fall goose season will be uniform throughout eastern Washington.
The Area 4 fall goose season set earlier last month by the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission and published in WDFW's 2001-2002 Migratory Waterfowl and Upland Game Season pamphlet had to be shortened to comply with federal regulations limiting goose hunts to a total of 107 days, including early-season, youth and late-season hunts, said Don Kraege, WDFW waterfowl manager.
Goose Management Area 4 includes Benton, Chelan, Douglas, Franklin, Grant, Kittitas, Lincoln, Okanogan, Spokane and Walla Walla, counties.
