OLYMPIA–The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is now accepting applications for the Department’s Landowner Hunting Permit Program for the 2024-2026 season.

Landowners must submit applications by Aug. 15. A copy of the application packet, details on how to submit an application, and more information about the program is available on WDFW’s website or by contacting the Private Lands Access Program Manager (360-280-3020).

WDFW’s Private Lands Program is focused on working with landowners throughout Washington to provide public recreational opportunities. WDFW works within formal agreements with landowners to outline and develop a plan that supports hunting and other public access and/or habitat conservation on enrolled private lands.

WDFW has been helping private landowners open their lands to public hunting since 1948. The Department helps landowners manage hunting on their property by providing technical assistance and signage. Many of the private landowners who are part of the private lands access program also get assistance from WDFW staff to help improve fish and wildlife habitat on their lands. Department staff are available to help landowners plan habitat improvements and may also help landowners apply for or implement federal- or state-funded habitat improvement programs.
