ELMA-Hundreds of hatchery coho salmon weighing up to 10 pounds are being planted in Vance Creek Pond #1 to provide angling opportunities to youngsters, senior citizens and disabled persons.
The plants began yesterday (Oct. 28) and will continue for the next two weeks.
The pond is located in Vance Creek County Park, adjacent to Highway 12 near Elma.
It is open to juvenile fishers under age 15, licensed seniors age 70 and older and to persons with disabled fishing licenses. The pond will be open for fishing through Nov. 30.
The daily catch limit is five coho. No catch record card is required.
WDFW biologists suggest fishing for the coho with cluster eggs under a bobber or by casting spinners.
