That's a reminder from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), whose fishing and hunting license system runs from April 1 through March 31 each year.
Anglers who have been fishing March-opening or year-round waters with a 1999- 2000 license need to purchase a 2000-2001 license by April 1.
A resident adult (16-69 years of age ) freshwater license is $20, saltwater license is $18, shellfish/seaweed license is $7, combination license is $36. Youth 14 years of age and younger are not required to buy a license. A fifteen-year-old's combination license is $5. A resident senior (70 years of age and older) freshwater license is $5, saltwater license is $5, and shellfish/seaweed license is $5. A non-resident freshwater license for those 16 years of age and older is $40, saltwater license is $36, shellfish/seaweed license is $20, and combination license is $72. Two-day fishing licenses are also available for both residents and non-residents for $6, but they are not valid for fishing in lakes during the first eight days of the lowland lake fishing season, which begins April 29.
WDFW licenses are available at hundreds of license vendors across the state, and at WDFW offices in Olympia, Montesano, Vancouver, Mill Creek, Wenatchee, Yakima, Ephrata, and Spokane.
