News release April 15, 2004
OLYMPIA - The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) will delay the opening of trout fishing on King County's Pine Lake because a major construction project virtually eliminates angler access to the lake.
The lake was scheduled to open to trout fishing on April 24, along with hundreds of other lowland lakes across Washington. However, the City of Sammamish's construction project at Pine Lake Park means there will be no public access to the lake until the project is completed, which is expected to be in early June.
WDFW has delayed its scheduled rainbow trout stocking in Pine Lake. Approximately 14,000 hatchery rainbow trout will be stocked in the lake once the city park is opened.
Boat-based anglers are advised that a new Sammamish regulation prohibiting the use of internal combustion engines will take effect on Pine Lake once the lake opens to fishing.
More information on the construction project is available by calling the City of Sammamish Parks and Recreation Department, (425) 898-0660.
