OLYMPIA—A monitoring project that helps fish biologists learn more about the migration patterns of juvenile salmon on the Green River is featured in the March edition of the TV show, "Wild About Washington," produced by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).
Department Fish Biologist Pete Topping demonstrates a round-the-clock salmon smolt trapping operation and explains how it helps WDFW collect information on juvenile fish migration down the river to the waters of Puget Sound and on to the Pacific Ocean.
"Wild About Washington" can be viewed on Tacoma's city channel 12 at various times, and on Comcast channel 76 throughout Pierce County at 9 p.m.,Tuesdays.
The March edition of the show also includes a report on Regional Fisheries Enhancement Groups and how local citizens can get involved in saving salmon resources.
