News release July 17, 2000
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) public boat launch at Williams Lake in southwest Spokane County will be closed for repairs starting Monday, July 24.
Fishing will remain open at the rainbow trout - planted lake, but no boats can be launched at the public access site while repairs are underway. WDFW officials estimate the repair work will take about five days, with the repaired launch probably available for use on the weekend.
Williams Lake has two private resorts with boat launches.
The public launch has often been unusable for large boats during shallow water times. The repair work includes making the launch deeper.
When the Williams Lake launch is repaired, WDFW crews will move on to repair the public launch at Pend Oreille County's Davis Lake. That work could start Monday, July 31, or earlier, closing use of the only launch on Davis Lake for a few days.
