TACOMA-A public meeting to discuss revisions to proposals to establish marine sanctuaries in Puget Sound will be held Wednesday (Jan. 26) in the Tacoma City Council chambers rather than the city's public library building as previously announced.
The meeting will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall, 747 Market St.
The meeting will focus on revisions WDFW is recommending for marine sanctuaries to rebuild groundfish stocks. One proposed reserve is in Colvos Passage near Sunrise Beach County Park. The second is near Waketickeh Creek on Hood Canal.
WDFW has scheduled a second public meeting to discuss the sanctuary issue at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the Timberland Library, N. 40 Schoolhouse Hill Rd., Hoodsport.
The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission is scheduled to vote on establishing a number of marine reserves when it meets Feb. 4 and 5 in Anacortes.
