Tim's Pond, a nearly three-acre, year-round-open fishing water in Yakima County, will be closed March 19 through at least late April for construction work to improve facilities.

The pond, which is just off Highway 12 adjacent to the Oak Creek Wildlife Area northwest of Yakima, is usually stocked with rainbow trout in the spring.

Greg Mackey, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Oak Creek Wildlife Area Manager, said trout stocking has been delayed until construction is complete and the site is re-opened. The work includes Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible parking, a trail, fishing platforms, and new vault toilets.

Mackey said if work progresses as planned, Tim's Pond will re-open April 19. But if weather or other factors delay construction, it could be as late as early May before it re-opens and fish are stocked.
