A public access site on Waitts Lake in Stevens County will be closed July 24 through August 13 for reconstruction work.

During the closure, the 455-acre lake can be accessed through three private shoreline resorts. The lake, west of the town of Valley, is popular with trout, bass and perch fishers.

The lake's public access site, managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), will receive a new boat ramp, paved parking area, toilet, fencing and gate with $289,000 from the Boating Facilities Program of Washington's Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (IAC).
