OLYMPIA - Finding an emergency fishing regulation on the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's (WDFW) website has never been easier.
Equipped with a new "searchable" database, the website now allows anglers to find updated fishing rules by species, location, body of water or all three.
"This is a significant improvement over the old system, which simply listed emergency fishing rules according to the date they were issued," said Lew Atkins, assistant director for the WDFW Fish Program. "With the new site, people can find the information they need fast, without having to sort through the regulations by date."
As before, the website includes all emergency fishing rules issued since permanent regulations for the season were adopted and published in the Fishing in Washington rule pamphlet. In addition, it allows anglers to compare rules for specific fisheries with those in effect during the past 10 years.
