YAKIMA- Hunters are reminded they need advance permission to enter the U.S. Army's Yakima Training Center.

The Army is limiting access to approximately 100 elk hunters per day on the opening weekend, depending on military training activities. The restrictions are being put in place to increase the safety of both hunters and military personnel at the site, which encompasses much of Game Management Unit 371. Hunting takes place there Oct. 30 through Nov. 7.

Hunters may pre-register to enter the installation on the opening weekend of hunting season by calling the training center at (509) 577-3402 from 6 to 9 p.m,. Oct. 25. No walk-in registration will be accepted and telephone calls will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
