OLYMPIA -- The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has modified an open fishing area on the Wind River.

From June 1 through June 15, the Wind River from the High Bridge to the lower boundary markers below Carson National Fish Hatchery is open to salmon fishing. The daily limit is two salmon. The portion of the river between Shipherd Falls and the High Bridge will remain closed to provide a larger sanctuary for spring chinook. An earlier WDFW announcement said the area would be open for salmon fishing.
