OLYMPIA - Public use of two boats ramps at the Glen Williams Access Area on Potholes Reservoir will be interrupted by construction work from Oct. 13 through the end of the month, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced today.
During the week of Oct. 13, anglers and others who plan to launch their boats should expect some delays as a construction crew begins excavating between the existing ramps in preparation for installing new boarding floats, said Dennis Smith of WDFW's Capitol Programs and Engineering Division.
The ramps will then be closed the week of Oct. 20 as the crew continues the work, said Smith, who recommends the ramps at Potholes State Park and Lind Coulee as possible alternatives that week.
"The reservoir is at its lowest point right now, and this is really the only time of the year that we can do this work," Smith said. "We apologize for any inconvenience, but the public will see a real benefit once this project is done."
The boarding floats, which are scheduled to be installed and ready for use next fall, will allow people to launch and retrieve their boats without getting wet, Smith said.
