WDFW statement on human-coyote incident in King County

WDFW statement Oct. 18, 2024

On Friday, Oct. 18, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Officers received a report from Seattle Police Department of a human-coyote incident with documented injuries in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle in King County. A woman observed a coyote in her backyard that had her pet dog in its mouth. The woman was bit as she attempted to free her dog. The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries to her arm and head. She went to a nearby hospital to be treated for her injuries. Seattle Police and emergency management services were first to arrive on scene and rendered aid. Fish and Wildlife Officers patrolled the area to search for the coyote but were unable to locate the animal. USDA Wildlife Services have been notified.
