WDFW Beach Season Information

Clam, mussel, and oyster seasons OPEN for harvest year-round.

WDFW shellfish seasons indicate the specific times of year when harvesting is permitted. Before heading to the beach, please also check the Department of Health (DOH) information below which is related to health of the shellfish and may be updated daily. To harvest on this beach, it must be both during the WDFW approved season and approved by the DOH.

Harvest profile

Cline Spit is a small public beach and County Park on the eastern edge of the interior of Dungeness Bay. It is a little over 80 yards from boundary to boundary. The launching ramp at Cline Spit is an excellent access point to reach boat-access-only beaches such as Old Town and parts of the Dungeness NWR that are open for clamming. There are native littleneck clams, Manila clams and butter clams available at Cline Spit.

Directions

To reach Cline Spit from Port Angeles on Highway 101, travel east 15 miles to Sequim and take the Sequim Avenue exit. Take a left on Sequim Avenue and proceed about a half mile to the intersection of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street. Go straight through the light and follow Sequim Avenue for about two miles until you cross over the Dungeness River. Travel for another half mile and take a right turn on Marine Drive. Stay on Marine Drive for another mile or so until you reach Cline Spit Road. Take a right. The road ends at the park.

To reach the site via Highway 101 from the Hood Canal Bridge, travel west on Highway 104 until Highway 104 merges with Highway 101, about one mile east of Discovery Bay. If you are coming from the south on Highway 101 (from Shelton, Olympia, etc.) it is about 86 miles from Olympia to Discovery Bay. Continue west on Highway 101 from Discovery Bay for about another 20 miles to Sequim. Take the first Sequim exit (Washington Street), a right turn. Stay on Washington Street for about a mile until you reach the the intersection of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street. Go right at the light and follow Sequim Avenue for about two miles until you cross over the Dungeness River. Travel for another half mile and take a right turn on Marine Drive. Stay on Marine Drive for another mile or so until you reach Cline Spit Road. Take a right. The road ends at the park.

There is a vault toilet, boat ramp, and information sign at Cline Spit.
