WDFW provides fish passage barrier assessment training.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) offers free training on the assessment procedures described in the WDFW Fish Passage Inventory, Assessment, and Prioritization Manual.

Our two-day training includes:

  • Course one: Inventory and Assessment—learn how to properly collect data and evaluate culverts, dams and fishways.
  • Course two: Habitat Survey—learn how to prioritize fish passage barriers for correction.

To be notified of future classes, please send an email with your name, email address, and organization to FishPassageTraining@dfw.wa.gov. If you registered for a fish passage training course and did not receive a confirmation email, please notify WDFW at FishPassageTraining@dfw.wa.gov as soon as possible.
