2010 Columbia River recreational smelt season to start Jan. 1

Species affected: Smelt

Effective dates: Jan. 1 through March 31, 2010.

Action: Open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Location: Columbia River.

Daily Limit: 10-pound daily limit. Possession limit is equal to one daily limit.


Reason for action: The season is consistent with a Level 1 fishery, in accordance with the Washington and Oregon Eulachon Management Plan. This rule also is consistent with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife hearing action of December 17, 2009.
