Adult coho daily limit to be reduced on the Klickitat River

Action: The adult coho daily limit will be reduced to one fish

Species affected: Adult coho

Effective date: Nov. 14, 2015, until further notice:

Klickitat River from the mouth (Burlington Northern Railroad Bridge) upstream to the Fisher Hill Bridge

Klickitat River from 400 feet upstream from the #5 Fishway upstream to the boundary markers below the Klickitat Salmon Hatchery.

Other information: The salmon daily limit will be 6 fish of which no more than 3 may be adults of which no more than 1 may be an adult coho. Any coho, adipose fin clipped or not, may be retained. Release wild chinook.

Reason for action: The adult coho hatchery returns are behind schedule and brood stock goals at Klickitat Hatchery may not be met. A conservative daily limit of one adult coho has been implemented in an effort to help achieve those goals. Fish are being collected at the #5 Fishway in an effort to help achieve that goal. The Yakama Nation has enacted emergency regulations to reduce their fishery on the lower Klickitat River.
