Action: Open Baker Lake to the retention of sockeye.
Effective Dates: July 23, 2011 until further notice.
Species affected: Sockeye salmon
Location: Baker Lake - from the log boom barrier in front of upper Baker Dam upstream to the mouth of the upper Baker River.
Reason for action: The return of Baker Lake sockeye is expected to meet escapement goals. Surplus sockeye salmon are available for harvest.
Other information: Daily limit is three adult sockeye salmon greater than 18 inches in length. Resident sockeye less than 18 inches in length are defined as kokanee and managed under the trout season as described in the sport fishing rules pamphlet. Release all other salmon.
Freshwater fishing rules apply, including that anglers must have a current freshwater or combination license and adult sockeye catches must be immediately recorded on their Sport Catch Record Card. Anglers are reminded that they must stop salmon fishing once they have retained their limit of adult sockeye. A saltwater fishing license is not valid in Baker Lake. The two pole endorsement is allowed for this fishery. The Catch Record Card Code for Baker Lake is 825.
All other fishing regulations remain in effect as listed in the 2011/2012 Fishing in Washington, sport fishing rules pamphlet. Anglers are reminded to release all bull trout.
