Changes to the recreational shrimp fishery in the
Port Angeles and Discovery Bay Shrimp Districts

Action: The recreational spot shrimp fishery in the Discovery and Port Angeles Shrimp Districts will not open as scheduled on May 6th, 2006.

Effective dates: May 6, 2006.

Species affected: Spot shrimp.

Location: Port Angeles and Discovery Bay Shrimp Districts

Reason for Action: For conservation purposes, due to extremely low abundance in the preseason test-fisheries, the spot shrimp fishery will not open as scheduled

Other information: The southern portion of the Discovery Bay Shrimp District, south of a direct line from Contractors Pt. to Tukey Pt., will open June 1, 2006 on a daily basis to the harvest of all species of shrimp, except Spot shrimp. All Spot shrimp caught must be returned to the water immediately. Marine Area 6, outside of Port Angeles Shrimp District (east of a line from the eastern tip of Ediz Hook to the ITT-Rayonier dock) will open on a daily basis to shrimp fishing starting Saturday May 6th at 7:00 am (See 2006-07 regulation pamphlet).
