Chinook daily limit reduced after July 28 in Marine Area 9

July 26, 2013

Action: Reduces chinook daily limit to 1 in Area 9.

Effective Date: 12:01 a.m. July 29, through 11:59 p.m. Aug. 31, 2013.

Species affected: Chinook salmon.

Location: Marine Area 9 (Admiralty Inlet).

Reason for action: Preliminary estimates indicate that encounters with legal size hatchery and wild chinook will exceed the preseason expectations prior to the end of the season. The fishery is being modified to control impacts on stocks of concern to ensure compliance with conservation objectives and agreed-to management plans.

Other information: Daily limit remains at 2 salmon plus 2 additional pink, with no more than 1 chinook. Release wild chinook and chum. Anglers should consult the Fishing in Washington, Sports Fishing Rules pamphlet for specific regulations for the Edmonds Fishing Pier and the closure south of a line from Foulweather Bluff to Olele Point.
