Chinook Retention to close beginning August 9 in
Marine Areas 5 and 6

Action: Closure to retention of all chinook in Areas 5 and 6.

Effective Date: Effective 12:01 a.m. August 9, 2004

Species affected: Chinook salmon

Location: Catch record card area 5 (Sekiu) and the portion of Area 6 west of Ediz Hook at Port Angeles. The eastern portion of Area 6 also remains closed to the retention of
chinook.

Reason for action: The fishery management quota of 3,500 hatchery chinook is expected to be reached by the end of Sunday, August 8.

Other information: Both areas remain open to salmon fishing for hatchery coho and sockeye.
