Chinook retention to close Sept. 18 on Columbia River
from Rocky Point/Tongue Point to Bonneville Dam

Action: Retention of chinook will close on the mainstem Columbia River from the Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam.

Effective date: 12:01 a.m. September 18 through December 31

Species affected: Chinook salmon

Location: Mainstem Columbia River from the Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam

Reason for action: The Columbia River fall chinook runsize is below expectations and impacts of the ESA listed Snake River wild fall chinook allowed for the mainstem sport fishery are expected to be met.

Other information: The daily salmon limit in this area continues to be six salmon but no more than 2 adults. All chinook, chum, sockeye and wild coho must be released.
