Chum retention allowed in Marine Area 13

Action: Allows for retention of Chum Salmon in Marine Area 13 as part of the salmon daily limit.

Effective date: Nov. 6, 2021, until further notice.

Species affected: Chum salmon.

Location: Marine Area 13.

Rule: Salmon: Chinook min. size 22". All other species no min. size. Daily limit 2. Release wild Chinook and wild coho.

Reason for action: The in-season estimate of Chum returns to the South Sound portion of Puget Sound indicate that there are sufficient returning numbers to allow for recreational harvest.

Additional Information: WDFW is also opening chum salmon retention at the mouth of Kennedy Creek, from the mouth (500 yards east of the northbound Hwy. 101 Bridge) to northbound Hwy. 101.
