Clam, oyster seasons will not open at three beaches on Jan. 1

Action: Closes clam and oyster harvesting opportunities at Belfair State Park and Port Gamble Heritage Park Tidelands and clam harvesting opportunities at Point Whitney Tidelands and Lagoon.

Effective date: Jan. 1, 2022, until further notice.

Species affected: Clams and oysters.

Location: Belfair State Park, Point Whitney Tidelands and Lagoon, and Port Gamble Heritage Park Tidelands.

Reason for action: Seasons for these beaches will change in 2022. This action is needed to accommodate 2022 season changes that are currently involved in the permanent rule-making process. WDFW expects final 2022 season changes will be effective in the Spring of 2022.
