Closure of the recreational shrimp fishery in the
Discovery Bay Shrimp District

Action: The recreational shrimp fishery in the Discovery Bay Shrimp District will not open as scheduled on May 5th, 2007.

Effective date: May 5, 2007.

Species affected: All shrimp.

Location: Discovery Bay Shrimp District

Reason for Action: For conservation purposes, due to extremely low abundance in the preseason test-fisheries, the fishery for spot and non-spot shrimp will not be open as scheduled.

Other information: Marine Area 6, outside of the Discovery Bay Shrimp District will open on a daily basis to shrimp fishing starting Saturday May 5th at 7:00 am (See 2007-08 regulation pamphlet). The spot shrimp season closes when quota is attained, or September 15, whichever comes first.
