Action: Extends coho retention season.
Effective date: Immediately through Dec. 31, 2020.
Species affected: Coho salmon.
Location: Skagit River (Skagit Co.), from the mouth to the Cascade River Road Bridge in Marblemount.
Rule: Salmon Daily limit 2, plus 2 additional hatchery coho may be retained. Min. size 12". Release Chinook and chum.
Reason for action: Continued strong returns of coho to the Baker River and holding coho observed during flight surveys of the mainstem Skagit River support extending the coho season through the end of the year.
Additional information: Anglers are reminded that recreational fishing is closed from the Hwy. 9 Bridge to the Baker River, Oct. 15 and 16.
Targeting chum and Chinook is not permitted. The Skagit has had several years of poor chum returns and anglers are encouraged to help conserve these species by reducing stress caused by catch and release encounters.
