Action: Closes Columbia Park Pond to fishing to the public two days prior to the fishing event, as well as the day of the event until 4:00 p.m. The area will open at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1.

Effective dates:

April 29, 12:01 a.m. to May 1, 8:00 a.m., Columbia Park Pond closed to all fishing

May 1 - Columbia Park Pond open only to participants in the "Kids Fish-In" event 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Columbia Park Pond will reopen to all juvenile anglers (14 years of age and younger) at 4:00 p.m.

Species affected: All game fish

Location: Columbia Park Pond located within Columbia Park in Kennewick, WA

Reasons for action: This rule change is necessary to assure a successful youth fishing event. 2,500 trout will be stocked on April 29 to acclimate the fish so they bite better for the kids during the event. On May 1, registered kids will be allowed to fish during the event. The pond will reopen open to the public at 4:00 p.m.

Other information: This event has been held at Columbia Park Pond for the past ten years. The event will host over 1,200 registered kids as well as their families, friends and general members of the public.
